Annual Report 2023 – 2024

Compassion in Action

Almost 159,000 people in Washington, D.C., and suburban Maryland received help last year from Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. The number of people in need returned to a pre-pandemic level after four years of increased need and an extraordinary response by Catholic Charities. In 2023- 2024, Catholic Charities continued its legacy of compassionate care through 47 programs in 29 locations.

“Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington has truly been the living expression of hope and prayer, seeing those in need as our brothers and sisters and daily providing them indispensable assistance and care.”

With a Compassionate Eye and Servant’s Heart

Dear Friends,

As leaders of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, we are honored to present the 2023-2024 Annual Report. Our focus over the last year has been building and deepening relationships — expanding our services and renewing connections in key areas of The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington where we see need. In our work last year, we celebrated many milestones. Among them, we have:

  • Secured full funding and moved forward on construction of the Conway Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility for the Kennedy School and Child Development Center.
  • Established a Southern Maryland Task Force and renewed our Prince George’s Task Force, deepening ties and building support for our efforts in those communities.
  • Chartered a Corporate Advisory Group to build partnerships and sponsorships across business networks.
  • Connected with parishes and schools to strengthen our community of young supporters and volunteers.

We sought, in all we did, to refine our vision for the future: remaining sustainable, relevant, collaborative and, most importantly, positioned to assist our most vulnerable neighbors who have lost hope and need help.
