Residents Experiencing Homelessness and Hunger Invited to a Special Christmas Dinner at Catholic Charities

WASHINGTON, Dec. 16, 2024 — Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington will host several hundred people who are experiencing homelessness and hunger at a Christmas dinner on Dec. 18 inside the agency’s headquarters on G Street NW.

Guests will be treated to a hearty holiday dinner, music and fellowship at a meal that dignifies those facing challenges and difficulties. Guests will be seated in a conference room and the boardroom of the Chinatown building, which has been decorated for the holidays by volunteers.

The Christmas meal of roast turkey with gravy, sweet potatoes, collard greens, corn bread and chocolate cake made by Catholic Charities’ KitchenWork program will be served by volunteers, including four members of Catholic Charities Board of Directors.

When: 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Details: The Christmas meal is part of Catholic Charities’ weekly St. Maria’s Meals program, which served more than 21,000 free hot meals in fiscal year 2024. Each week, St. Maria’s Meals is served on Wednesday evenings along G Street NW. Across all Catholic Charities’ food assistance programs in fiscal year 2024, more than 4 million meals were served.
