Three Washington Area Community Leaders Named to Catholic Charities Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28, 2021 — Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, which
provides comprehensive social services to the nation’s capital and five surrounding Maryland counties,
has announced its Board of Directors for fiscal year 2022.

Named to three-year terms are:

  • Caitlin Chalke, director of marketing, communications and alumni relations at The Woods
    Academy;
  • Gregory “Steve” Proctor Jr., president and CEO of G.S. Proctor & Associates Inc.; and
  • John Shooshan, CEO and president of the Shooshan Company.

The announcement was made after a recommendation for appointment by Cardinal Wilton D. Gregory
and approval by the agency’s corporate members.

“We welcome these exemplary leaders to Catholic Charities’ Board of Directors. They bring a strong
commitment to our mission of serving those experiencing poverty and expertise that will serve the agency well as it brings hope to those in need,” CEO Msgr. John J. Enzler said.

The board is led by Chair Kevin Virostek, greater Washington managing partner at Ernst & Young. John
Veihmeyer, retired chairman of KPMG International, serves as vice chair.

The three new members join others on the 14-member board:

Cecilia Bergoglio, former finance professional and Catholic Charities volunteer;

  • Leila A. Finucane, president and CEO, Victory Housing;
  • William Kappaz, chairman and CEO of The Dorado Group;
  • Patricia McGuire, president, Trinity Washington University;
  • Elizabeth Meers, senior counsel, Hogan Lovells;
  • The Honorable Michael Steele, attorney and political analyst;
  • John Whalen, president, WRG Properties;
  • Michael Williams, chairman of the board of directors, Realogy Holdings Corporation; and
  • Paula Gwynn Grant, secretary for communication, Archdiocese of Washington, who serves as
    liaison to the Board of Directors

Catholic Charities’ Board of Directors provides strategic direction and fiduciary oversight to the 90+-
year-old organization and offers guidance on policy, mission effectiveness and community impact.
