Financial Stability Network
The Financial Stability Network provides pro bono financial services to those who otherwise would not have access to financial education and mentoring, and tax preparation.
About the Program
The Financial Stability Network assists low- and moderate-income individuals and families with financial education to help them reduce debt and prepare their tax return. Established in 2016, the network is made up of more than 100 financial experts who provide education and mentoring.
Among its pro bono (free) assistance are:
Financial Mentoring
Individuals and families meet with a trained financial mentor several hours each month to review budgeting techniques, financial management, debt reduction and retirement planning.
Financial Education
A range of financial topics are offered throughout the year in virtual (via Zoom) presentations.
Free Tax Return Preparation
Make less than $60,000 a year? Typical tax returns we complete through our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program generate a $2,000 refund due in large part to the earned income credit. If you haven’t submitted a tax return yet this year, schedule an appointment with us by calling 202-738-9957 or register here.
Who is Eligible?
The Financial Stability Network assists residents of the District of Columbia and the surrounding Maryland counties of Montgomery, Prince George’s, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s. The programs of the Financial Stability Network are targeted to potential clients who have low to moderate income. The Financial Stability Network does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, nationality or any other protected status recognized under the law.
