Summer may have just begun, but we already have your fall plans scheduled. The volunteer office is recruiting 100 volunteers for 28 ongoing volunteer opportunities that begin this fall.
There are in-person and remote positions available in various programs, including the Volunteer Medical Clinic, Legal Network and Financial Stability Network. Each weekly role will be provided with training and require a minimum 75-hour commitment, including orientation.
Volunteers make a lasting contribution in helping those in our community who need basic necessities such as food, shelter and, at times, a friend to talk to.
“I chose this volunteer opportunity to serve others who may need a helping hand in life,” said Jason Lising, volunteer at the New York Avenue Men’s Shelter. “I have come to be friends with several residents and staff. I don’t mind just being there with them, present and available. When someone wants to talk, I’m glad to lend an ear.”
Applications are open, and the final day to apply is July 15. For the complete list of volunteer opportunities and to begin the application process, visit the ongoing volunteer registration page.
